Happy Spring!

Hello.

I am still here.

There’s the Happy Spring banner I made last year while The Girl was just two months old.  However did I manage that?  Ah yes, she used to nap.  The banner is felt and for some reason I just love it so much.  But I am a sucker for Spring anyway.  I love the warm weather, the greening of my yard, the whole Easter aesthetic of pastel colors and birdies.

I took a nice long break from blogging for a few weeks.  The Daddy Monkey was away for a week at the beginning of the month, and it seems like things have finally gotten back to normal around here.  Whatever normal is, anyway. I’ve been on a major spring cleaning kick the past few weeks.  I haven’t cleaned this house that hard since I was pregnant with The Girl over a year ago.  You’d think I was pregnant.  Which I am certainly not.

I am cleaning baseboards, scrubbing walls, touching up paint inside the house, organizing, sprucing up the backyard, and just plain old cleaning.  The dirt of a house that had been neglected for an entire year while I nursed a baby nonstop finally got to me.  Something had to be done.  I have been working hard and it actually feels good to be cleaning the house.  Although all this work has given me more that my share of backaches recently.

All of my spare time has been spent cleaning, scrubbing, and scouring.  Not a lot of time left for crafting, although I still do give myself a little creative time daily.  The new sewing setup is so fantastically awesome, I don’t even know where to begin.  Since it’s so organized now, I am able to sew in spare moments here and there, even if it’s only five or ten minutes.  I’ve made a lot of progress on the Spring quilt.  I’ve got all the blocks done, and I’m now sewing the blocks into rows.  So no, I didn’t manage to get it done by the Equinox.  What was I thinking?  I’ll get back to it when the cleaning is done.

So if you’ll excuse me, there’s a dirty bathtub and a toothbrush calling my name.

Ah, welcome back! I can’t wait to see that quilt finished…with the sashing those blocks just sing.
