WIP Wednesday :: Navy Swim

Last year’s post-partum swimming suit doesn’t fit anymore!  Hooray!  I’m really loving this year’s high-waisted swimming suits for obvious reasons, and since all my old swimming suits are either completely worn out or too big, I decided it was time to make another one.  It’s been years, but I still have my reliable old pattern that I made years ago (before kids!).  I usually make a vintage style bottom anyway, so all I had to do was extend the top of the pattern a bit higher.  This year though, I’m going to add a sailor-pants style button detail on the front, similar to these shorts which I love.  I usually favor black swimming suits, but I’m ready for a change this year, and what better color for a sailor-style swimming suit than navy blue?

The top is almost done.  I just have to sew the straps and put the hook on the back.  I haven’t started on the bottom yet, and I wanted to have it done by this weekend, but I am sick.  Again.

    Wow, that’s so cool! Wish I had the sewing confidence to make my own swimwear. Not that I ever go swimming, but how fab to just be able to tell people, ‘oh yeah, I made this the other day’.

    I loved your response at Blog For Better Sewing.

    You have a great blog here. I am also a stay-at-home mom, artist and sewer. I have an art blog and a sewing blog if you would like to come and have a look around.

    Oh dear, sickness is so not what anyone wants for their birthday. Do get better STAT! (At least you have warm weather: I’m writing this next to a fire, wearing a sweater and scowling.)
