Snow, Rocks, and Naked Trees

For this Florida girl, the snow was quite a sight.  It started to snow in the afternoon on Boxing Day, and was still coming down when I went to bed at 10 p.m.  I just couldn’t get enough of it.  The Daddy caught me staring out the window more times than I could count.  Didn’t everyone else see what was was happening outside? Wasn’t it just perfectly gorgeous?

When I see tourists down here taking pictures of palm trees and seagulls, I can’t help but sort of smile to myself.  I take the beach and its beauty for granted.  It is a mere ten minute drive from my house.  I suppose that’s how northerners feel about the snow.  That it’s ordinary.

But to me, it was anything but.  Seeing piles of the white fluffy snow on everything seemed so magical.  And the rocks!  Tons of rocks everywhere.  And the trees.  All of our trees are green all year round. All of those bare trees seemed so tall.  I suppose it’s a blessing that they loose their leaves in the winter, to allow as much light as possible to fall on the ground.

So for my Florida friends, who never get snow, or rocks or naked trees….I bring you…pictures of snow, rocks, and naked trees.

I don’t think we northerners take it for granted. Every fresh snowfall is beautiful, but after it has hung around long enough to get dirty, it can go ahead and melt!

Magnificent! It’s true that it’s easy to take our natural environments for granted. Excellent “mindfulness” in your appreciation of the snow.

It must have been just breathtaking! I love how something out of our ordinary experience can bring us back to such innocent wonder! Thanks for the pics!

At 75 I still stand in wonder and watch the beautiful snow flakes clean up the world and turn it into a magical wonderland of white.
