Candlemas

I couldn’t help but feel a small sense of accomplishment on Candlemas this year. This marks our first full year of festivals.  It was with Candlemas last year that I began our year of rhythm.
This year I did manage to spread the festivities out over a few days, but not by much.  I’m still feeling [...]

Martinmas

We had our Martinmas celebration this past weekend.  In the Waldorf tradition, Martinmas is about the importance of protecting our “inner light” through the harsh winter, and about helping others do the same.
All of last week we talked about the story of St. Martin and how important it is to help those in need.  I [...]

Celebrating Fall :: Day 2 :: Michaelmas

I had been wanting to celebrate Michaelmas with the kids since I first read about it, thinking it would be a great fit for The Boy, who has always had a passion for all things knightly.  Since I learned my lesson to not try to cram it all into one day like I did with [...]

Breadmaking With The Boy

Happy St. Valentine’s Day!

Here are the valentines The Boy and I made last Sunday while The Daddy Monkey and The Girl napped. It was a team effort, with Art Direction by The Boy.  Construction paper, glitter, and glue.  What could be better than that?
Wishing you a warm St. Valentine’s Day, filled with love and chocolate!

It’s Almost Here…

The gingerbread house is done.

Cookie production is in full swing.

The last candle on our Advent wreath was lit tonight.
And the temperature is dropping, finally!
A wonderful, beautiful, cozy Sunday spent at home.

Countdown to Easter

I’ve already said how much I love Spring and Easter.  I’ve been really looking forward to this weekend and the holiday.  The Boy has always loved Easter and all its festivities, and The Girl is interested participating in whatever The Boy is doing.  I really hope Phase I of the Backyard Spruce-Up is done this [...]

The Boy Paints, and Thoughts of Peter

So many, many times have I tried to create art with The Boy.  I have come at it from every angle, I have tried every medium, I have begged, I have cajoled, and I have encouraged.  He does not care to participate.  As a stitcher and an artist, it saddens me to see him missing [...]
