I couldn’t help but feel a small sense of accomplishment on Candlemas this year. This marks our first full year of festivals. It was with Candlemas last year that I began our year of rhythm. This year I did manage to spread the festivities out over a few days, but not by much. I’m still [...]

I know it’s a bit late to be posting photos of the gingerbread house, but since I shared the the last two here, it seemed only fitting that this one be recognized as well. This year I had real help from The Girl. The Boy did help a bit, then wandered off to build Lego. [...]

There’s not alot of it, but there’s certainly enough to experience it. Sadly, the snow did not taste like sugar, as the children were expecting. Not enough for snow angels, but he sure did try. The weather forecast says we may get some more snow early next week, and we are really hoping it happens!

Here are a few more photos from our Day of the Dead celebration. This pinata was the third I’ve made and I think it was the best of the three. I used the cooked wheat paste recipe from Amanda Blake Soule’s Handmade Home, and it was really nice to work with. It was far stronger [...]

No matter how many outfits we have in our dress-up trunk, I always enjoy making more. Halloween this year was a busy and fun-filled day. The Girl went as a fairy. As much as I tried to persuade her otherwise, she insisted upon pink. (I was rooting for aqua blue.) The dress and wings are [...]

I had been wanting to celebrate Michaelmas with the kids since I first read about it, thinking it would be a great fit for The Boy, who has always had a passion for all things knightly. Since I learned my lesson to not try to cram it all into one day like I did with [...]
